Are our schools accredited?
All Washington Parish School System schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Continued accreditation involves periodic reevaluation. The Southern Association and the State Board require reevaluation by committees of outside educators as well as self-study by the principal and school staff.

How old does my child have to be to start school?
To enter a Louisiana pre-kindergarten program, eligible students must be four on or before September 30. To enter a Louisiana public kindergarten, students must be five on or before September 30, and to enter first grade they must be six by that date. What information must I provide to register my child in a Washington Parish School system school for the first time?
An official birth certificate must be furnished at registration. Parents are asked to present verification of address (utility statement, mortgage deed, rent receipt or lease document, or telephone statement).  Students enrolling in Louisiana schools are requested to present an official copy of their social security number.  In order to attend a Louisiana school, students in all grades must have proof of immunization against seven diseases - measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus (DPT) and polio. Louisiana law also requires students to have eye, ear and dental examinations. Health certificates are available from physicians or from the Washington Parish Health Department.
