Drug Free Schools
The Safe and Drug Free Schools Program (Title IV) is the federal government's primary vehicle for reducing violence and the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco through education and prevention activities in schools. Initiatives are supported which promote school environments that are free from drugs and violence and the unauthorized presence of firearms and alcohol, and offer a disciplined environment conducive to learning.
Child Welfare and Attendance is a specialized student support service that covers compliance with compulsory education laws, student admission and enrollment procedures, student discipline procedures, transfers to alternative programs, and school climate and safety. Child welfare and attendance combines the knowledge and skill of counseling with knowledge of education and the law to resolve complicated situations involving school choice, student discipline, campus safety, and programs for high-risk youth.
The Child Welfare & Attendance Department also provides assistance with the following services:
- Work Permits
- Majority to Minority Transfers
- Expulsion Hearings
- Suspension Appeal Hearings
- Truancy
- School Enrollment
- District Code of Conduct
- School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
It is our desire that the multitude of services coordinated by this office are efficient and professional and assist students to complete their education successfully.
